long weeks

January 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This has been a very long week and I’m still trying to figure out how to use wordpress so please forgive me for the messy first try. I am quite tired and bogged down with work but just wanted to let you all know I’m still alive. And prepare for a future post:

I just realized I am not quite sure how to upload photographs.  That will be for another time.

everybody say, "welcome january"

January 13, 2008 · 1 Comment

It’s January! I can’t believe how fast the time is going! It is quite amazing. And I will be starting classes again next week (sadly). I am not looking forward to going back. But I only have four classes (12 credits) this semester and my schedule is looking pretty damn good. So I can’t complain too much.During the break, I was able to get a ton of knitting done! Fantastic! My first real finished project after Christmas (or during, can’t remember) are the Monkey socks by Cookie A. I had such a great time knitting them! I got the yarn through the Knit One, Tea Two swap that ended in October. Finally got around to knitting the yarn and this is what came of them. These are my first knit socks with sock yarn!

Pattern: Monkey by Cookie A. from knitty.com
Needles: US 3 bamboo dpns
Yarn: KPPPM, blues and greens
Loved the pattern. I completed both socks in less than a week! I could only do that over break. The pattern was easy to follow and was just plain interesting. I love the socks and am already wearing them through.I also worked on the two-tone shrug from Fitted Knits by Stefanie Japel. My best friend gave me this yarn for my birthday (in November) and it was going to be Foliage from Knitty.com but I decided hats really don’t look that good on me and I have to figure something else out. So I came up with this:

Pattern: Two-Tone Shrug from Fitted Knits by Stefanie Japel
Needles: US 9 bamboo circ. (lengths 29 in. and 16 in.)
Yarn: Malabrigo worsted weight in Cinnabar
Here is the beloved action shot! My head was sort of chopped off accidentally. Its okay.
I have also been working on on a sweater for the boyfriend. We went to Woolbearers in Mount Holly, NJ and found some yarn (wool, mohair blend) and its coming along nicely. I took this picture about two or three days ago. Now, I’m almost finished the left sleeve and will hopefully start on the right today. I’d really like to finish this before he goes back to school (January 22).

Pattern: Mixology from Son of a Stitch ‘n Bitch
Needles: US 10 1/2 bamboo circ. (lengths 29 in. and 16 in.) & US 9 bambo circ. (lengths 29 in. and 16 in.)
Yarn: Lamb’s Pride Bulky in Sable
It knits up very quickly, though I am really hating the sleeves. At this point, I just want it finished. Its plain stockinette almost all the way through and its getting to me! But, like I said, I hope to have it finished by the time he goes back to school. This is still pretty plausible. In other news, Christmas went swimmingly! I got a ton of great stuff. Some knitting books, yarn money, sweatshirts and blankets (I’m always cold) from the family. The boyfriend got me some pj bottoms, perfume (Bella by Mary Kay, his mom’s a rep.) and a necklace and earing set. The best friend and her family got me a heated blanket and pjs (I’m always cold) along with some other small nick nacks that are around the room. Oh, and some white chocolate body wash/lotion, doesn’t smell that grand in the bottle, but god, it smells good in the shower! I’ve also been spending time with the boyfriend and best friend and that’s always lovely. Gone out to dinner, to the comedy clubs, walked around Mount Holly’s High Street and just hung out. Its been a wonderful break and I hate to go back to school at this point. But its coming. What you gonna do?
