with nine hours to spare

November 20, 2007 · 1 Comment

I have finished my research paper! Thank the good lord above, in some strange universe or realm, (s)he has allowed me to start research, formulate a thesis statement, provide an outline with quotations, write the paper (including a cover and works cited page) and revise it in a matter of twenty-four hours.

I am about to die! Let us just hope the endless hours researching in Border’s and typing up the paper pay off. I really need an A on this paper!

But it’s late and I need to call the boyfriend to wake him up and let him know I finished my paper. He may get mad, but I don’t care!

Evening folks!

The birthday went pretty well. I celebrated with my friends at a local diner after my classes and then went home to celebrate with my family. We had cake and I blew the candles out:

My brother and I.
And when I got home from the diner, there was a surprise on the table:

Roses!

The boyfriend, who couldn’t be home for my birthday, sent me half a dozen roses! Aren’t they beautiful!?

Close up in bad lighting with a shaky hand.

This Friday, my school had their annual Holiday Auction. We auction off really expensive items and the proceeds go to student scholarships. It was a nice event. We dressed up. Though, afterwards, was where the real fun was at:

Heather and I at Friendly’s. I look a bit goofy, just ignore.

It was a good ol’ time. We laughed, we ate, we bitched. What more could you ask for. Though, it was kind of amusing going there in gowns and fancy wear. Heather was smart and brought a change of clothes.

Yesterday and today I have been working on homework mad amounts. Today, I’m actually going at it really slow (its the weather) but I’m getting it done. Around six last night, the boyfriend and I went to a friend’s surprise birthday party and met up with some friends. Afterwards, we came back to my house and just caught up. This past week has been hectic and we really haven’t had time to talk.

Luckily, I’m getting through my homework. I have to finish writing two essays for the All-USA Scholarship I was nominated for. (I’m going to nationals guys!) I also have to start a three to five page research paper for my American literature class on Irish-American Immigrant literature due Tuesday. Gawd! On top of that, I have to try and finish The Scarlet Letter by Tuesday also. And, thank God, I just finished putting together the literary magazine for my school (I’m the editor). That is a huge relief!

Okay, I guess it’s back to my work. And tea!

Evening folks!

Basto.

Isn’t it beautiful? A couple weekends ago, end of October, the Basto and Cranberry festivals took place. I think it was October 21 and 22. On Saturday, my best friend and I went to Cranberry festival and spent the day together. We ate, shopped, drank tea and hot coco. It was glorious. Sadly, it wasn’t as cold as it normally is. I was walking around in a t-shirt half the time. It did not feel like festival weather, but we had a good time nonetheless. We bought soap. “Smell it, it smells like hippy!” Sandelwood. Who would have guessed?

Basto again.

Sunday we went to Basto with her mom and her mom’s friend (who has the most adorable little house I have ever seen)! We walked around. We found the soap lady and I ended up buying a 100 yards of Alpaca and a couple ounces of Alpaca roving. I’m going to teach myself how to spin and by the sounds of it my mother is buying me a drop spindle for Christmas. It was good times had by all!

Then, a last Friday (November 1 I believe) Demetri Martin came to my college and performed for about 90 minutes. He was hysterical! I highly suggest to go see him! I brought a couple friends with me but I was also working the event. Always good to work the event. You get to meet the performer and get in for free!

The boyfriend and myself.

So, as we were waiting for Demetri Martin, my friends and I got photo happy! Of course. The boyfriend and I got a picture together, though we both look a little odd. Then, Demetri came over and we all got in the picture!

Demetri’s in the center with the Micky Mouse shirt. I’m to the right with the boyfriend.

I love that picture. Everyone is so happy!

Anyway, I don’t have much else to say. The knitting has been quite slow because of school. I’m should be catching up on homework right now but I’m a bit on the lazy side tonight. Plus, I feel as though this week should be my week off. Why you ask? Tomorrow I am officially no longer in my horrible teens! I am going to be 20! YAY! Honestly, I sound more excited here than I really am but oh well. Tomorrow night I’m going to go out with some friends to celebrate at the diner and today I went out to lunch with my family to celebrate! Yay for me!

Alright, well, if you are interested and live in New Jersey, the Cranberry Festival is in Chatsworth while the Basto Festival is in Basto. They tend to be the same weekend near the end of October. I had someone ask. Sorry I didn’t get back to you but by the time I read it, they already happened.

Please keep commenting and letting me know what you think and what you’d like me to talk more about. I promise, my next post will have some knitting involved. Its just really difficult when their all Christmas gifts and I don’t want people to see their gifts! Gawd!

Alright, well its back to King Lear, The Scarlet Letter and other short stories from Hawthorne. Night all!
