Though I enjoy that story a lot, it is a bitch to read! I’m reading it in the Norton Anthology and it has wonderful translations of many other pieces including Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, but this one is a bit more difficult. I think its because the Canterbury Tales has a set poetic style and they want to keep the rhyme similar and you can do that in modern English. Oh well.
If you can’t tell, I’ve been spending most of my time doing homework. Mainly British and American Literature. Though I have a science quiz Wednesday I should be study better for. But we’ll get around to that! I’m trying not to even think of all the things I have to do! Geez!
This weekend was really hectic! I went to my College President’s 20 year Anniversary Gala. Wonderful and great fun! He celebrated 20 years as president of our college. Apparently, that is pretty damn amazing. Tickets were $125 a plate but about 15 students got in for free (to us, not the committee). And I was one of them. A perk of being a student leader.
And Sunday I went to Deaf Fest. I am an American Sign Language student and also a student considering teaching English at a deaf school. I love the language, it is so beautiful! I never knew I could fall in love all over again with a language other than English (yes, there is a big difference). I even know Miss Deaf New Jersey. She lives only a block away from me and I grew up with her sister! I didn’t even know she was Miss Deaf New Jersey. I had a great time there and I was able to communicate pretty well. I could tell people that I was hearing and an ASL student and they understood that I didn’t know a whole lot but enough to get through a bit of conversation.
Any who, I’m really busy and that’s why I’m having so much trouble getting to posting and even knitting. But here we go:
Here are my finished cabled footies from one skein. They are so comfortable, I refuse to take them off. I need to make more.
A close up!
Danica Scarf is coming along quite nicely!
Colors and Entrilac!
Well, its late and I best be off to bed. I promise I’ll try to update better soon!

This past Wednesday started my days as a college student once again! Luckily, I’m no longer a freshman. Always a plus. But geez, so much has been going on already. I was assigned 80 pages to read in Physical Science (along with taking notes and answering review questions), 10 pages in American Literature (Pima Stories of Creation), one would think this is a breeze but trying to understand everything and note taking took me over an hour, a two-page paper for American Literature and 71 pages (Beowulf) for English (British) Literature. Luckily that assignment is not due until Friday! I finished everything except Beowulf and plan on getting a head start tonight. I figure if I read about 15 pages a night, I’ll be done by Friday. Hate to cram it all in the night before, especially Old English.
On the knitting front:
R-31 almost complete.
I am almost finished the boyfriend’s laptop case. It is all knit up but I still have to felt it a tad bit more and I also have to re-seam some stitches to make it look a bit more presentable. I really didn’t like knitting this up too much but putting in the pocket was very fun! I wasn’t sure how she was going to do it at first, but once I started it, it made sense.
Sadly, he’s already up (down?) at college preparing for his first day at school tomorrow. I do miss him but it was wonderful to be knitting this for him. I wish I could have gotten it to him before he left. But this will be a good gift for him when he comes home.
Drying.
I am sure that this looks quite strange but that’s alright. It is an attempt at drying the damned thing. Strange thing I have just been noticing these past few days, I’m happy my life is as hectic as it is and that I have knitting. For those of you who knit, I’m sure you understand why.
Next up on the list is the Danica scarf. I’ve been thinking about this for weeks. I bought the yarn about two weeks ago. Its Patrons SWS in Natural Earth! I absolutely love knitting with it. I had to pull back a block because I wasn’t paying attention and that was a bitch, the yarn does not do well with ripping back. Otherwise, its soft and has such great color and depth.
Enough of the talk, let’s see pictures:
Isn’t it beautiful. I just love the texture I’m getting with this. And entrelac looks really hard, but in reality, it is one of the easiest things. This is not you typical scarf and that makes me happy.
So far.
This is what I have with about three hours of work and dying sunlight. (At 6pm? Damn!) It is a pleasure to knit and it is quite fun! Who knew scarves could be fun?
And lastly, my sock. I have the leg complete and will hopefully finish the heel flap and gusset so I get to the foot and can take it with me to class. Yes, it is probably bad I knit in class, but it is something to do with my hands. Plus, I have a 3.75 GPA, is anyone going to argue that knitting is making my grades drop? I don’t think so.
Well, I best be getting out of here. I have 71 pages in Beowulf to start and semi-early classes. I’ll be updating soon, I promise! Don’t forget to check for more pictures at my flickr account.
I hope all of you are enjoying the end of your summer!
